“This new kit not only looks great, but sounds amazing,” says David Jewell, marketing manager, Yamaha Drums. “We have upgraded the drum set’s finish without raising the price to offer high-quality value for the serious musician.”
Although small in size, this is a serious set of drums. The set’s superior quality tone and durability is due in part to Yamaha’s original Air Seal System, which creates shells that are perfectly round and uniformly thick. The set includes a 16” x 16” 9-ply bass drum, a 13” x 12” 6-ply floor tom, 10” x 7” rack tom, and a 12” x 5” snare. Yamaha’s top-quality hardware, including a stand specifically designed to fit the smaller-diameter snare drum, comes standard.
As a master of different world styles, Katché earned international recognition with the 1986 release of Peter Gabriel’s multi-platinum title So. He has also performed and recorded with Sting, Tracy Chapman, Joni Mitchell, Robbie Robertson, Tears for Fears, Dire Straits, Simple Minds, Michael McDonald, Joan Armatrading, Paul Young, and Tori Amos and has filled the drum chair for a number of film soundtracks.
“My signature kit is the first quality set for young beginners, but it’s also perfect for professional drummers who want a superior portable kit,” says Katché. “Small, but solidly-built, it offers the best of both worlds to a wide range of drummers.”
Finish options include Black Lacquer and Silver Lacquer. The kit has a target ship date of April 2006.
