Yamaha P70 Piano Lab Provides The Total Tonal Package

—Modular System Now Includes 88-Key, Weighted Action Digital Pianos—

ANAHEIM, Calif.—Yamaha, a pioneer in group teaching and music education, introduces the P70 Piano Lab, a ready-made package that brings together two breakthroughs in educational and digital technology: the acclaimed LC2 music lab system and the 88-key, weighted action P70 contemporary digital piano.

Currently available, the 8-student/1-teacher system is the first solution of its kind, and includes eight P70 student digital pianos and an additional P70 instructor instrument; nine model matching benches and L70 pianos stands; and a complete LC2 controller system connecting them all together. The P70 digital pianos, stands and benches are available in either black or silver.

“Only Yamaha can combine digital piano performance, aesthetics, durability and intuitive operation into one complete single package,” says Dane Madsen, marketing manager, Yamaha Digital Pianos. “By brining the P70 into the equation, school music programs can now have a quality digital piano lab that won’t strain the budget. The instruments give the natural touch and tone required for proper piano instruction, while the lab provides the ultimate in group teaching flexibility.”

Yamaha’s P70 contemporary digital piano offers the experience of playing an acoustic piano, with 88 weighted piano-sized keys and a Graded Hammer Standard action that replicates the feel of a real acoustic keyboard. Additional features include 32 notes of polyphony, 50 built-in songs and 10 of Yamaha’s best keyboard voices (including Grand Piano, Strings, and Pipe Organ), plus digital reverb and dual voice mode. Bundled accessories include an adjustable music rest, AC adapter and model FC5 sustain pedal.

“With the LC2, an instructor can put up ‘invisible walls’ between students and create virtual practice rooms,” adds Madsen. “The teacher can visit the students one-on-one, let them work in pairs, or even mute all instruments with the touch of a button—all without ever leaving the ‘instructor’ instrument.”

The LC2 is a multi-purpose system with a modular design, making it ideal for a variety of electronic instruments and classroom situations. Components include a rack mounted Hub, Student Boxes, Teacher Controller unit and optional Yamaha Music Lab Management software. The basic eight-channel system also includes headset mics for eight students plus one instructor, and can be expanded by eight students at a time using the LC2 expansion kit, accommodating as many as 48 students. Not limited to piano classes, the system can also be used in conjunction with other portable keyboards, synthesizers or even Yamaha’s Silent Series instruments, such as the Silent Strings, SLG guitars or DTX series electronic drums.

The P70 Piano Lab is currently available.
