Yamaha Introduces Marching Mellophone, Euphonium

—Instruments Designed in Conjunction with Top DCI Drum Corps—

Yamaha Marching Euphonium

ANAHEIM, Calif.—Yamaha Corporation of America, Band & Orchestral Division, will introduce the YMP-204M F Marching Mellophone and YEP-202M Bb Marching Euphonium at Winter NAMM 2006.

Designed for use in marching, high school and college bands and drum corps, the YMP-204M plays comfortably for French horn players doubling on the mellophone; it enables a free-blowing response, improved intonation over previous models and powerful sound in the upper register. The instrument replaces the YMP-203M, and is ideal for mellophone players who have traditionally had to compromise response.

The first marching only euphonium offered by Yamaha, the YEP-202M enables a rich, deep, dark euphonium tone for marching and excellent balance for the player. The balance reduces strain on musicians’ arms, making it more comfortable to hold.

“Through testing and development with the top DCI drum corps, we have again created improved instruments to fit the marching activity,” states Kurt Witt, Marketing Manager, Winds.

The YMP-204M and YEP-202M will be available in April.
