YAMAHA PM1D AND PROMIX GO COUNTRY BUENA PARK (CA) (May 14, 2001)Production Resource Group's Burbank (CA)-based ProMix recently provided sound reinforcement for the live CBS broadcast of the 36th Academy of Country Music Awards, held May 9 at the Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles. According to Gary Hardesty, ProMix vice president, two Yamaha PM1D Digital Audio Mixing Systems replaced five Yamaha PM4000s and three 02R consoles used the previous year in the front of house and monitor mix positions.
"The recall functions and intuitive design made the PM1Ds well-suited for a multiple-act show," he notes. "Most importantly, they delivered exceptional audio quality." House engineer Randy Faustino (pictured), second front-of-house engineer Butch McCarge and monitor engineer Kevin Wapner handled mixing duties for a host of performers which included Lee Ann Womack, Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn and Diamond Rio. Also on hand for the event were sound designer Gary Hardesty, audio supervisor Bruce Burns and crew members that included Makoto Araki, Fletch, Jeff Peterson and Sean Rowbottom.
