BUENA PARK, CA (October 3, 2001)—Yamaha Guitars, in cooperation with Smartconnect, will resume the series of online, interactive clinics, hosted by noted guitarist and educator Vinny Valentino and bassist Jeff Andrews.

Guitarist Vinny Valentino

The next installment is scheduled for Tuesday, October 9 at 7:30pm ET (4:30pm PT), and will be webcast directly from Valentino's home studio in Teaneck, NJ. Due to the events in the New York metro area, the September 11 date was canceled.

The 90-minute clinics feature live streaming Real audio, video and a moderated chat room. Participants will be able to chat and ask questions via ICQ (number 125074628), AOL Instant Messaging (at MusicClinics), and email. See complete details and a video trailer at www.vinny.com/clinics. Anyone is invited to email Vinny with questions or topics to be covered at onlineclinics@vinny.com.

Webcasts include information on scales, chord changes, solos and lines, arranging and performance issues, with Valentino and Andrews playing solo and as a duet. Future installments will feature additional instrumentation, such as trios and quartets. Valentino plays a vintage Yamaha Pacifica and APX10, plus CPX15W and AEX1500 guitars, with Andrews playing a Yamaha TRBII electric bass; both use the recently-introduced DG Stomp box for effects.

Bassist Jeff Andrews

Valentino has shared the stage and the recording studio with a variety of artists, including Tom Scott, George Benson, Patrice Rushen and Jimmy McGriff, and has appeared as a both guest and guest host on BET Network's "Bet on Jazz." He and his band have opened for Ramsey Lewis, Spyro Gyra, Steve Morse and David Crosby, and continue to play concerts and festivals around the world.

Andrews has performed and toured extensively with Michael Brecker, Mike Stern, Vital Information, Branford Marsalis and the Wayne Shorter Quintet. In addition, he has served on the faculties of the Bass Collective, Mannes College of Music and the Manhattan School of Music's jazz program.
