YAMAHA MOTIF GAINS SUPPORT FROM MOTIFATOR.COM Top Software Developer Provides Forum Website for Users BUENA PARK, CA (July 3, 2001)Yamaha Corporation of America, Pro Audio & Combo Division, Digital Musical Instruments, announces the launch of Motifator.com, a third party support and forum website for users of the Yamaha Motif Music Production Synthesizer.
Developed by the web designers at leading content company Keyfax Software of Santa Cruz (CA), the site will provide information on the inner workings of Motif through discussion forums, downloadable content and "how-to" clinics. Visitors will also be able to swap grooves, enter contests, pick up special accessories such as custom audio and MIDI file data, and see how some of the top names in the business are incorporating Motif into their work. The site is currently online at www.motifator.com. "Since its introduction, Motif has been one of Yamaha's most-anticipated products," notes Athan Billias, marketing manager, Digital Musical Instruments. "With Motifator.com, users of Motif now have access to a forum that is inclusive of all the appropriate technology." The site is based around a central communications area, MotiForum, where users' questions and requests can be answered, and where new grooves and screenshots can be uploaded or downloaded. Motifator.com will also offer an extensive "behind the manual" area, where Motif's many applications and facilities can be discussed in a direct, yet relaxed manner. Julian Colbeck, CEO of Keyfax, notes, "The Yamaha Motif Music Production Synthesizer is an incredibly multi-faceted instrument. Motifator.com will reflect its many musical opportunities and possibilities, from sample-based music productionboth recorded and liveto painstaking sound and groove design incorporating MIDI and audio." The Yamaha Motif Music Production Synthesizer combines the sonic power of the world's most advanced synthesizer, the hands-on immediacy of a groove box, a unique Integrated Sampling Sequencer and an approachable user interface in one package. The 61-key Motif 6, 76-key Motif 7, and weighted-action 88-key Motif 8 feature some of the best sounds from the Yamaha S80, 9000 Pro, and EX series ( EX5, EX7 ) synthesizers, Modular Synthesis plug-in slots for expansion, and an improved category search function for quick access to sounds. The heart of Motif is the Integrated Sampling Sequencer (ISS), which allows both MIDI and audio to be combined seamlessly. Users may "slice" audio based on amplitude peaks, then manipulate those pieces as if they were regular MIDI data. Motif contains linear and pattern sequencers (with the ability to transfer data between the two), plus four real-time physical sliders and four physical knobs, which work as 16 virtual knobs and 16 virtual sliders when used with the expanded real-time control functions. In addition, templates are included for using Motif as a remote control surface for some of the industry's most popular software sequencers (including Steinberg Cubase VST, Logic Audio, Cakewalk and Digidesign Pro Tools).
