YAMAHA HEADS TO CAMP WITH CORPORATE PARTNERSHIP
–Company Will Supply CD Recorders to Renowned Summer Computer Programs–

BUENA PARK, CA–Yamaha Corporation of America, Consumer Products Division, has announced a corporate partnership with Kirkland, WA-based Cybercamps, which operates hands-on summer computer camps throughout the western United States. With a donation of 20 units, campers, counselors, educators and staff will be able to integrate the award-winning Yamaha CRW6416SXZ external rewritable CD recorders into their 2000 summer curriculum.

This year, Cybercamps will host between 5,000 and 8,000 boys and girls, ages 7-16, on 28 leading college and university campuses throughout California, Nevada, Arizona, Oregon and Washington. Campers learn new computer skills such as web page design, C++/Java programming and 3D animation in a fun, hands-on atmosphere, while gaining valuable experience with the latest technology.

Corporate partners loan or donate hardware/software through the Cybercamps Foundation, which provides scholarships to needy and at-risk individuals. At the end of the summer camping experience, the Foundation donates the products to local public and/or private schools in need of up-to-date technology.

"Yamaha is proud to support educational efforts," said Henio Arcangeli, Jr., vice president/general manager, Consumer Products Division, Yamaha Corporation of America. "Yamaha rewritable CD-RW recorders are the worldwide standard in CD recording. Because of their unparalleled quality and versatility, we believe that our CD-RW recorders are perfect for a progressive computer program such as Cybercamps."

Compatible with PC and Mac platforms, the CRW6416SXZ is an external, re-writable 6X write/4X rewrite/16X read unit that can record an entire CD in just 12 minutes, making it one of the fastest drives in the industry. Yamaha has been the world leader in CD-recorder development since the late 1980s.

"What makes Cybercamps so unrivaled is our ability to offer the most advanced technology and the highest quality products to our campers," said Sonia Doughty, spokesperson for Cybercamps. "Our chief technical officer chose the Yamaha product specifically for that reason."
