CAVALIERS CELEBRATE 15-YEAR YAMAHA AFFILIATION WITH NEW MARCHING BRASS LINEUP

GRAND RAPIDS, MI (July 12, 2001)—Yamaha Corporation of America, Band & Orchestral Division, and the Cavaliers are celebrating their 15-year affiliation with the addition of Yamaha marching brass to their line-up. The Cavaliers are the second DCI member corps to switch to Yamaha brass—the Cadets switched last year. Both tied for first place in the 2000 Drum Corps International competition.

The Cavaliers Now Play Yamaha Brass Instruments

Cavaliers director Jeff Fiedler says the horns have made a significant difference for the drum corps. "The intonation was head and tails above what we'd been able to achieve before," he noted. "We're really excited to be using Yamaha quality instruments."

Among the Yamaha instruments the Cavaliers have recently started using are the YTR-6335HSII trumpets, YMP-203MS mellophones, YBH-301MS baritones and YBB-201MS convertible tubas.

"The Cavaliers are one of the premier groups in the marching activity, and working with them is a great opportunity to improve our marching products," stated Kurt Witt, Wind Instrument product manager, Yamaha Band & Orchestral Division.

The Cavaliers won their first state title in 1953, and have won 13 National Championships. They have also won every major title available to a junior drum and bugle corps, including DCI World Championships in 1992, 1995 and a tie in 2000.
