YAMAHA LLX6DN DAVE NAVARRO SIGNATURE ACOUSTIC ELECTRIC
HAS THE LOOK AND SOUND
ANAHEIM, CAYamaha Guitars celebrates the music and style of Dave Navarro with the LLX6DN limited edition signature acoustic-electric guitar. Developed at Yamaha’s USA Custom Guitar shop as a variation on the LLX6, the LLX6DN makes a bold visual statement while maintaining the characteristics that have made the Yamaha L Series the new choice in handmade guitars: outstanding playability, natural tone, and sophisticated electronics to bring out that tone in vivid detail.
“Like Dave, this guitar is extremely versatile, musically and visually,” says Ken Dapron, director, Yamaha Guitar Development. “It has the combination of professional specifications and a unique look that will appeal to players of all genres. This instrument is at home on the stage, in the studio, or in a collector’s display case. We value Dave’s input in creating the tools of his trade.”
The LLX6DN features premium Maple multi-ply body construction with black binding, a Mahogany 25.5” scale neck and Ebony fingerboard with custom star inlays. Other design elements include an Ebony bridge, black tuners with Pearloid buttons and a high-gloss white finish with a custom black rosette.
Internal construction innovations include Yamaha’s exclusive Non-Scalloped 90° X-Bracing for increased resonance and a more focused midrange, and the unique SQ Frame Side Bracing, which enhances low and low-mid response. Custom NC Neck Block design offers superior coupling of the neck and body while simultaneously increasing sustain, power and projection.
Electronics include a proprietary System 45 2-way preamp with 3-band EQ, phase switch and microphone balance control, and a combination of a piezo bridge pickup and condenser microphone near the sound hole, mounted on an adjustable gooseneck.
“Special edition instruments often emphasize appearance over sound,” says Bryan Savage, marketing manager, Yamaha Guitars. “With the LLX6DN, that’s anything but the case. This guitar will appeal to a wide group of players who are looking for a well-appointed instrument that has stage appeal and great tone. It has custom shop looks and features in a package that’s accessible to any working musician.”
Hailed as one of rock’s modern guitar heroes, Navarro began playing seriously as a teenager and rose to fame for his work with alt-rock bands Jane’s Addiction and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, lending his talent to their respective releases, Nothing’s Shocking, Ritual De Lo Habitual and One Hot Minute. His unique style seamlessly blends metal, hard rock, punk and psychedelia, making him an in-demand session player for artists ranging from Nine Inch Nails to Alanis Morissette. A recent solo album, Trust No One, features Navarro on guitar, vocals, bass and piano.
