YAMAHA CLAVINOVA CLP100 SERIES DELIVERS TOP LEVEL
PERFORMANCE FOR AN OUTSTANDING MUSICAL EXPERIENCE
Advanced Technology Designed for Musicians
of All Levels
ANAHEIM, CAYamaha Corporation of America, Piano Division,
raises another octave with the addition of the Clavinova CLP100
Series models to its award-winning line of Clavinova digital
pianos. Each model in the new CLP100 Series outperforms its
predecessor in every respectat or below the original price.
The Clavinova CLP100 Series offers five modelsCLP170,
CLP150, CLP130, CLP120 and the latest entry-level offering,
the CLP110. All instruments feature Yamahas renowned GH
(Graded Hammer) weighted keyboard, which recreates the feel
of a real grand piano right down to the increased key weights
in lower registers.
"While the Clavinova is first and foremost a digital
piano, the CLP100 Series also offers a variety of lifelike organ,
choir, harpsichord, vibraphone, string and bass voices to complete
any performance or composition," says Jim Levesque, Electronic
Keyboard marketing manager, Piano Division, Yamaha Corporation
of America.
The CLP170 offers the new GH3 Keyboard, which provides a new
level of grand piano realism. Like the previous GH (Graded Hammer)
keyboard, the GH3 uses a weighted mechanism and grade-weighted
keys (gradually heavier, top to bottom) to provide a "natural
feel." Furthermore, each key features a damper mechanism
with two velocity sensors that enable rapid playing of a single
key without the skipping of notes that characterizes conventional
electronic pianos. Each key has a reduced spring load to absorb
the shock when you play, which takes the strain off performers
fingers. The difference is most prominent during the execution
of energetic, vivace passages.
All CLP100 Series Clavinovas feature AWM (Advanced Wave Memory)
tone generation, which varies the volume and timbre of sound
according to the users touch on the keyboard. To assure
a warmer, more enveloping sound, the Yamaha CLP170, CLP150 and
CLP130 boast new DSS (Dynamic Stereo Sampling) piano samples.
These new samples, taken at different levels from loud to soft,
result in a more lifelike response to the users style
of play.
In addition, the Yamaha CLP170, CLP150 and CLP130 offer Stereo
Sustain and Key-off samples. Stereo Sustain samples recreate
the resonance of the strings and soundboard when the damper
pedal is pressed, which contributes to the unique sound of a
grand piano. Key-off samples provide the delicate sound keys
make when they are releasedfor yet another touch of realism.
For authentic grand piano performance pleasure, the CLP170 and
CLP150 come with String Resonance samples to provide the complex
resonance that makes an acoustic piano rich and full.
In addition to a built-in To Host PC interface, the CLP170
and CLP150 feature a USB (Universal Serial Bus) interface, which
can replace both MIDI IN and OUT when connected to a computer.
Now, downloading songs from your PC to your Clavinova is as
easy as "drag and drop." This means users can either
transfer entire songs from the CLP to a PC (or vice versa),
or display them on a PC monitor while playing them in real-timeall
via USB.
For maximum playing and listening enjoyment, Yamaha has developed
the exclusive iAFC (Instrumental Active Field Control), offered
on the CLP170. The iAFC outputs sound picked up by a microphone,
and combined with the Clavinovas internal sound through
rear speakers, makes automatic adjustments to create a richer
sound that best matches the acoustic characteristics of the
room youre playing in. This feature incorporates three
separate effects: DDE (Dynamic Damper Effect) can recreate the
breathtaking resonance that occurs when you press the damper
pedal down on a grand piano; SEE (Spatial Ensemble Effect) reproduces
the reverberations and resonance of a real stage performance
for a much more spacious sound; and NSB (Natural Soundboard)
can be used to pick up sound from the microphone to recreate
a virtual soundboardand assures an expansive, more natural
sound.
"Youll notice the difference the three types of
iAFC effects make as soon as you start playing," says Dane
Madsen, Product Manager. "iAFC offers a new sonic outlet
for the Clavinovaallowing for total piano realism."
The Yamaha Clavinova CLP100 Series combines state-of-the art
technology with elegant design, and is available in a choice
of four handsome woodgrain cabinetsDark Rosewood (all
models), Mahogany (CLP150 and CLP170 only), Cherry (CLP150 and
CLP170 only) and Polished Ebony (CLP170). All CLP100 Series
feature a headphone hanger, and the CLP150 and CLP170 offer
music clips to keep music book pages help open while playing.
