YAMAHA P SERIES AMPLIFIERS PUSH THE POWER
Feature High Output, Maximum Efficiency
and Switchable Filters
ANAHEIM, CAYamaha Corporation of America, Professional
Audio, will release four new P Series power amplifiers line
at Winter NAMM 2003. These new models represent an upgrade to
the current P Series line, and are designed to deliver a combination
of high-output power and extremely efficient operation for bands,
DJs, houses of worship, music venues, and other small-to-mid-sized
permanent or mobile sound reinforcement applications.
The P2500S, P3500S, P5000S and P7000S deliver respective power
outputs of 250, 375, 525 and 700-watt power per channel into
8-Ohm loads. Models P2500S and P3500S will be available in April,
with remaining product shipping in July.
"This new line addresses customer requests for high power,
lightweight amplifiers that will withstand a harsh live sound
environment, night after night," says Wayne Hrabak, Pro
Audio marketing manager. "They really epitomize the combination
of Yamaha quality and aggressive price points."
Designed for maximum flexibility, the P Series provides three
output modes: normal Stereo Mode routes separate input signals
to independent channels with L/R signal control; Parallel Mode
routes a single input to two independent channels with L/R signal
control; and Bridged Mono Mode, which provides the highest power
output.
Switchable, sweepable filters on each input channel can be
set as "low pass" to allow easy use as a subwoofer
amplifier, or "high pass" when low frequencies require
attenuation. The range of these filters is 25Hz 150Hz.
The combination of Yamahas exclusive EEEngine technology
with MOSFET circuitry enables the P Series to perform with exceptional
efficiency. Upgraded on-board limiters provide optimum protection
against hard clipping, while integrated Yamaha Speaker Processing
(YSP) circuitry, accessible from a rear-mounted switch, enables
all P Series amps to enhance the audio performance of Yamahas
Club Series loudspeakers. The 2-RU design features front-panel
31-position input attenuators and signal indicators. Each channel
contains both professional balanced XLR and 1/4" balanced
input connectors, with 1/4" Speakon and 5-pole binding-post
output connections.
"The new P Series really pushes the performance envelope,"
adds John Schauer, Professional Audio product manager. "Using
the amps with the Yamaha Club Series speakers is the perfect
combination for a punchy, transparent sound."
