AFFORDABILITY MEETS HIGH PERFORMANCE WITH YAMAHA AS312
Three-Way, 12" Acoustic Suspension
Loudspeaker Provides Punch and Clarity
ANAHEIM, CAYamaha Professional Audio will debut the
newest addition to its line of versatile speaker systems, the
AS312, at Winter NAMM 2003. Engineered for smaller P.A. or nearfield
stage monitoring applications, the three-way acoustic suspension
design delivers amazing punch and vocal intelligibility usually
reserved for larger, more expensive speaker systems, and requires
no additional low-end support.
The compact (22 9/16" H x 15 3/8" W x 16 5/8"
D, 44 lbs.) AS312 features a single 12" long-throw woofer
with butyl rubber surround, a sub-enclosed high-compliance 4
1/4" cone midrange and a 1" compression driver coupled
to a 60° x 40° horn.
"Because of the way they handle power and dynamics, three-way
speaker systems remain popular, despite the fact that many manufacturers
have abandoned the design particularly with smaller enclosures,"
states Wayne Hrabak, Pro Audio marketing manager. "The
Yamaha AS312 delivers a combination of three-way performance
and price in a package that should be attractive to anyone in
the market for a cost effective P.A. system."
Cabinets are finished in a durable, weather-resistant ACX
textured coatingideal for rough handling or outdoor useand
a full-faced steel grille. An integrated socket allows the AS312
to be pole mounted.
"When Yamaha recently debuted the redesigned EMX bundles,
the AS108 speakers got equally high marks as the powered mixers
for their clarity and punch," adds John Schauer, Pro Audio
product manager. "With the AS312s, Yamaha takes that technology
a step further with a three-way design that delivers remarkable
low frequency response."
The AS312s are currently available, and are sold separately,
or may be purchased as part of a bundle with the EMX66M powered
mixer.
