YAMAHA UPDATES POPULAR U SERIES UPRIGHTS
New Centennial Edition Marks 100 Years
of Yamaha Grand Pianos
ANAHEIM, CAYamaha Corporation of America introduces
a number of enhancements to the U Series of upright pianos,
with new U1, U3 and U5 models that offer improved tone and function.
The updated U1 48" acoustic upright, U3 52" acoustic
upright and U5 52" acoustic upright all offer a longer
music rack and an improved back assembly, and the U3 adds a
new floating soundboard support system like the one already
featured on the U5. The floating soundboard support system is
based on Yamaha grand piano design and allows the soundboard
to vibrate more freely, producing a deeper, richer tone. The
new models will ship in May 2002.
"These improved uprights are serious instruments, perfect
for the advanced player or institution that requires a full
sound but doesn't have enough space for a grand piano,"
says Paul Calvin, piano marketing manager, Yamaha Corporation
of America. "The U Series is already a sought-after item,
and now it's better than ever before."
Like their predecessors, the new uprights feature Spruce soundboards,
full-length ribs, the exclusive Yamaha V-Pro plate, extruded
aluminum alloy action rails and uniform key travel with spruce
keys and balanced actions.
