ANAHEIM, CA—Yamaha Corporation of America, Band & Orchestral Division, announces the upgrade of two sets of bells at Winter NAMM 2002. The upgraded YG-250D Concert Band bells and YG-1210 Concert bells include a variety of useful improvements to the YG-250 and YG-1200A bells. Both models use a new high-carbon steel material treated with a special tempering process that results in a pure bright tone. To increase sustain and resonance, each model uses nodal point support strings with single pin bar mounting. Both models come in a full F57 – C88 range and a rectangular case with removable lid.
"Sound is a priority at Yamaha," says Steve Anzivino, percussion product manager. "Making these changes as a result of sound testing by professional percussionists from around the world has produced better instruments – and that is what is important to Yamaha."
The bells will be available in January.
