The Bobby Shew "Soloist" Harmon Mute, (MU-SHEW) designed by master player Shew, allows for a warm, dark sound, intended for soloing trumpets. It features a soldered stem in a fixed position in order to get the proper sound qualities to accommodate a player's desire for good solo sound. It is versatile enough to be played in many different situations and many different styles, providing the ultimate in flexibility for the player.
"This mute allows players to stand out with their solo harmon sound while retaining sectional integrity," says Jim Metz, Wind Instrument Product Specialist. "The 'Soloist' creates a new, fuller harmon mute sound that is different from the "tinny" sound that traditional harmon mutes are known for." The harmon mute is currently available.
Richards Double Reeds (YAC 8100-8114) are handcrafted and play tested by Richard Rath, a Yamaha performing artist/clinician, ensuring the utmost in playability and performance. Rath began crafting reeds over 30 years ago, yet as an active teacher and performer, is able to reflect the current trends in performance and instrument design into the production of his reeds.
Reeds are currently available for oboe and bassoon. The oboe reeds are handmade and play-tested – a new shape holds the upper register up and allows the player a darker, stable, and centered tone. They offer more response throughout the full range of the instrument. Each bassoon reed is hand-wired and play-tested. The reeds use only the finest materials to ensure response in the extreme range of the bassoon. "This line of oboe and bassoon reeds represents a high level of craftsmanship and quality at an affordable price," says Metz. "Players will appreciate the high quality of Richards Reeds."
Clark Viper Rotor Oil (YAC Viper-R/12) is a special blend of oils that creates a slick, non-gumming, long lasting, and consistent oil for rotary valve instruments. A detergent additive promotes clean valve action and inhibits residue buildup inside the instrument, while a higher viscosity allows for a complete ease in rotor motion. The oil's low evaporation rate means that the user does not need to re-oil the rotors as often. The oil is currently available.
Hetman Musical Lubricants are designed to provide advanced instrument care for discriminating musicians. The range of 20 lubricants provide high-tech protection for all pistons, valves, rotors, slides, joints, bearing, and keys. Use of leading edge technology means that each lubricant embodies the most advanced technology, providing superior, longer-lasting protection and performance. Each lubricant is completely compatible with conventional petroleum-based oils, application-specific, easy to apply, and all come with an easy-to-follow application guide. The lubricants are currently available.
Bulk Maintenance Items are very convenient and cost effective for dealers. They offer advantages in receiving, inventory, warehousing, and transporting over individual maintenance items. They give dealers, especially band dealers heavily involved with school rental programs, the opportunity and ability to save time, money, and hassle in the procurement, storage, and availability of common wind instrument maintenance tools. They provide a good source of maintenance materials for in-house use as well as individual sales. The items come in bulk packs of 50 units and are currently available.
