THE NEXT LEVEL: YAMAHA DEBUTS MOTIF ES
MUSIC PRODUCTION WORKSTATION
Models Include Massive Wave ROM, 128
Notes Polyphony, Stunning Samples
NASHVILLE, TNSince its introduction, the Yamaha Motif
has revolutionized the very concept of music synthesis. With
the Summer NAMM 2003 debut of the Motif ES Music Production
Workstations, Yamaha Corporation of America, Digital Musical
Instruments, takes the creative process to the "next level"
for professional musicians.
Like the original Motif, the new entries combine the sonic
power of a synthesizer, the hands-on immediacy of a digital
workstation, the revolutionary concept of an Integrated Sampling
Sequencer (ISS) for total integration of audio and MIDI, and
a user interface which puts power at the user's fingertips.
The 61-key Motif ES 6, 76-key Motif ES 7 and 88-key Motif
ES 8 feature the largest and most musical Wave ROM ever provided
in a workstation keyboard (175 MB in 16 bit linear format).
At the heart of the ES series is an advanced new tone generator
chip which includes a generous 128 notes of polyphony, new filter
algorithms and massive DSP power (16 three-band EQ, eight Insert
effects, two system effects and two master effects in Song and
Pattern Mode).
"Rather than just do a minor repackaging of the incredibly
successful Motif Music Production Synthesizers, Yamaha developed
the core of the ES series from the ground up with an all-new
tone generator and other advanced features," states Athan
Billias, director of marketing, Technology Products.
The Motif ES is loaded with a superb sample set. Yamaha's
MegaVoice technology reproduces stunningly realistic sounds,
complete with physical characteristics, timbres and nuances
of sampled acoustic and amplified instruments. Additional sound
features include Phrase Factory, with 1700 arpeggios and
real time loop remix, making it easier than ever to create great
tracks. With the advanced Integrated Sampling sequencer (ISS),
users can even add audio tracks into their songs.
Improved hands-on control functions include larger knobs,
sliders, transport controls, and a new ribbon controller. Templates
are included for using the Motif ES as a remote control surface
for the industry's most popular software sequencers.
Other features include support for 512 MB of DIMM Sample RAM,
USB storage hosting and second generation mLAN computer connectivity
for future expandability. The mLAN16E option will allow the
Motif ES to easily integrate with mLAN devices such as the Yamaha
01X.
"The Motif ES is the most powerful workstation synthesizer
on the market," states Michael Martin, marketing manager,
Digital Musical Instruments. "The new tone generator, massive
amount of Wave ROM and MegaVoice technology make these very
expressive and musical instruments."
All three models will be available in September 2003, and
supercede the Motif 7 and Motif 8 Music Production Synthesizers;
Motif 6 will stay in the line at a reduced price. An upgrade
program will be available for owners of the original Motif to
help them upgrade to the Motif ES.
