NATIONWIDE MUSIC EDUCATION SURVEY RESULTS ARE IN
Yamaha and Partners Complete Nationwide Search for Best
100 Communities
BUENA PARK, CA (May 14, 2002)For the third
year in a row, Yamaha Corporation of America has lent its expertise
to a very special undertaking: the Best 100 Communities for Music
Education survey.
Yamaha and its partnersThe American Music
Conference (AMC), The Music Teachers National Association (MTNA),
The National School Boards Association (NSBA), Perseus Development
Corporation and The VH1 Save the Music Foundationused an
online survey form supported by direct telephone interviews to
identify the nations leading school districts out of thousands
of respondents.
For more than half a century, Yamaha has linked
its production of quality musical instruments with an equally
strident commitment
to music education. Programs such as the Yamaha Music Education
System (YMES), the Music In Education (MIE) teaching system and
curriculum, the Yamaha Young Performing Artist Program (YYPA)
and the Yamaha Advantage online band method community have
all grown out of this belief that our mission is not merely to
make quality products, but to ensure that customers around the
world know how to get the most beauty and enjoyment from them.
In applying this knowledge base to the annual music
education survey, Yamaha participated along with the other partner
organizations by consulting on the creation of the survey questionnaire,
helping to craft the data analysis methodology, and taking part
in the nationwide publicity efforts on which the survey depends.
