YAMAHA HELPS TO HAVE "A GREAT NIGHT IN HARLEM"

—CFIIIS Grand Piano Donated at Benefit for Jazz Musicians—

Legends meet: trumpeter Freddy Hubbard and George Benson

BUENA PARK, CA (October 11, 2002)—On September 26, the Jazz Foundation of America sponsored the second annual "A Great Night in Harlem" at the world-famous Apollo Theater. Hosted by Bill Cosby, the benefit included legendary performers like George Benson, Cecil Payne, Roc Carter, Lou Donaldson, Jimmy Heath, Joe Lovano, Keter Betts, Candido, Billy Bang, Hamiet Bluiett, Abbey Lincoln, Hank Jones, Freddie Hubbard, Joe Lee Wilson, Clark Terry, Jimmy Owens, and Ray Barretto to raise money and awareness for the Jazz Musicians' Emergency Fund—designed to help ailing jazz musicians who are impoverished and have no access to medical care. And once again, Yamaha provided a CFIIIS grand piano for the evening's performances.

"God bless the people at Yamaha for being our official piano sponsor at ‘A Great Night In Harlem' at the Apollo Theater and for being a supporter of the America's Jazz Musicians Emergency Fund," said Wendy Atlas Oxenhorn, Executive Director for the Jazz Foundation of America.

The Yamaha CFIIIS piano was the obvious choice for the Apollo Theater concert, as the popular grands are prized not only for their tone and touch, but also for their consistency and durability. The CFIIIS model has been a leading choice for the finest music schools and concert halls.

Among the 56 musicians, heads of record companies, jazz magazines, radio stations, jazz journalists, photographers, Yamaha and other corporate sponsors, the benefit raised nearly $250,000.
