NAMM AND YAMAHA PRESENT $330,000 CHECK TO CHARITIES
BUENA PARK, CA (August 22, 2003)NAMM, the International Music
Products Association, and Yamaha Corporation of America awarded
a check for $330,000 to NAMM's non-profit charities as a benefit
from The
2003 NAMM Concert Honoring Sir Elton John, presented by Yamaha.

Several
non-profit organizations devoted to music making and music
education will benefit from the funds raised at the star-packed
concert that highlighted Winter NAMM 2003 in Anaheim.

The proceeds from the concert, which was held in Anaheim, CA during
the 2003 NAMM Show in January, were given to the American Music
Conference (AMC), the International Foundation for Music Research
(IFMR), the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation and the Museum of Making
Music to support their missions of music education and research.
"Yamaha is grateful to have this opportunity to underscore
its commitment to music education and to the musical products industry,"
states Terry Lewis, senior vice president, Yamaha Corporation of
America. "The personal involvement of Joe Lamond, the support
of the NAMM Executive Committee and the roles performed by various
NAMM staff were an outstanding example of industry cooperation that
produced phenomenal results. I especially want to acknowledge Chris
Gero, Yamaha's corporate director of artist affairs. As producer
of this event, Chris, more than any single person, was responsible
for the success of the Elton John Tribute Concert."
The presentation took place at the 2003 NAMM Summer Session Chairman's
Reception where Steve West, chairman, NAMM, announced that the event
raised the most money in NAMM's history and called to the stage
Joe Lamond, president and CEO, NAMM; Terry Lewis, senior vice president,
Yamaha Corporation of America; Chris Gero, corporate director of
artist affairs, Yamaha Corporation of America; and Yoshi Doi, president,
Yamaha Corporation of America.
