NAMM AND YAMAHA PRESENT $330,000 CHECK TO CHARITIES

BUENA PARK, CA (August 22, 2003)—NAMM, the International Music Products Association, and Yamaha Corporation of America awarded a check for $330,000 to NAMM's non-profit charities as a benefit from The 2003 NAMM Concert Honoring Sir Elton John, presented by Yamaha.
Several non-profit organizations devoted to music making and music education will benefit from the funds raised at the star-packed concert that highlighted Winter NAMM 2003 in Anaheim.

The proceeds from the concert, which was held in Anaheim, CA during the 2003 NAMM Show in January, were given to the American Music Conference (AMC), the International Foundation for Music Research (IFMR), the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation and the Museum of Making Music to support their missions of music education and research.

"Yamaha is grateful to have this opportunity to underscore its commitment to music education and to the musical products industry," states Terry Lewis, senior vice president, Yamaha Corporation of America. "The personal involvement of Joe Lamond, the support of the NAMM Executive Committee and the roles performed by various NAMM staff were an outstanding example of industry cooperation that produced phenomenal results. I especially want to acknowledge Chris Gero, Yamaha's corporate director of artist affairs. As producer of this event, Chris, more than any single person, was responsible for the success of the Elton John Tribute Concert."

The presentation took place at the 2003 NAMM Summer Session Chairman's Reception where Steve West, chairman, NAMM, announced that the event raised the most money in NAMM's history and called to the stage Joe Lamond, president and CEO, NAMM; Terry Lewis, senior vice president, Yamaha Corporation of America; Chris Gero, corporate director of artist affairs, Yamaha Corporation of America; and Yoshi Doi, president, Yamaha Corporation of America.
