BUENA PARK, CA (July 19, 2002)Guitarists in
the market for an axe with a license to rock need look no further
than the Yamaha RGX620Z and RGX820Z electrics. These new entries
make a stunning statement with contemporary body designs, progressive
curves, and hot finishes. The new line delivers a powerful sound
with versatileyet toughelectronics, making them the
ideal weapon for the progressive musician and today's heavier
music styles.
The RGX620Z
features an Alder body cut to give a sculpted 3-dimensional appearance,
a thin, 25.5" bolt-on Maple neck and smooth 22-fret Rosewood
fingerboard. Electronics include Alnico V humbucking pickups,
a signature Yamaha tremolo and 3-position toggle switch.
"Today's harder-edged music calls for
instruments that not only have the appropriate look and sound,
but that will also stand up to a lot of hard use," states
David Bergstrom, director of marketing, Yamaha Pro Audio &
Combo Division. "The new RGX models will do just that, and
more. They're made to rock."

The RGX820Z
features an Alder body with a fast 25.5" Maple bolt-on neck,
and 24-fret Rosewood fingerboard. In the electronics department,
the RGX820Z "turns it up" with a combination of powerful
Seymour Duncan 59 (neck) and JB (bridge) magnetic humbucking bridge
pickups, plus a Piezo bridge pickup which can simulate the sound
of an acoustic steel string guitar. Dual outputs and a blend knob
allow the signal from the magnetic and Piezo pickups to be routed
to separate amplifiers, or layered for a combination electric/acoustic
sound. A 3-position toggle switch and signature Yamaha tremolo
complete the circuitry.
"With the RGX820Z, players have a unique choice
of tapping the acoustic sounds, the full shred humbucker sounds,
or both," states Gary Cook, product manager, Yamaha Guitars.
"With this line, you're ready for anything."
Translucent pickup bezels, black tuners and a choice
of Amberburst, Deep Blueburst and Trans Dark Red finishes complete
the look of both RGX models, which are targeted for September
delivery.
