FG improvements include advancements in construction
and final setup, with thinner laminates on the backs and sides,
combined with lighter finishes, for overall sonic enhancement.
All models now feature solid Spruce tops, die cast tuning hardware
and real body binding. Higher-end models feature gold die cast
tuning hardware, plus a full bound headstock, neck and body. All
models in the series are currently available.
"Yamaha recognizes that this market sector
has become increasingly competitive," states David Bergstrom,
director of marketing, Pro Audio and Combo Division. "We
feel that these changes will help us maintain our position as
the number one choice for entry-level instruments."
Leading the offering is the Yamaha FG403S. Featuring
a solid Spruce top, die cast tuning hardware, real body binding,
and a high gloss finish, this instrument is sure to be a favorite
among beginners.
The FGX413SC is an entry-level acoustic/electric
with Yamaha's own in-bridge piezo pickup and preamp, plus 3-band
EQ and variable midrange frequency control for a natural acoustic
amplified sound. Available in high gloss natural finish.
The FGX423SC-12 BLK represents the top range in
the series. This 12-string acoustic/electric solid-topped cutaway
features an eye-catching gloss black finish.
"The improvements to the FG guitars make these
instruments aesthetically, as well as sonically, pleasing,"
says Gary Cook, Guitar product manager. "The series will
continue to provide professional quality specs at attractive price
points."
