Taps His Toe on Stomp Box

BUENA PARK, CA (July 19, 2002)One of the finest
instrumentalists in all of jazz fusion, U.K.-born guitarist Allan
Holdsworth continues to experiment with the boundaries of guitar
music. Holdsworth was among the first musicians to use a Synthaxe,
a guitar which housed a breath controller that became an unusual
hybrid of a synthesizer, guitar, and saxophone. As a tool to further
his musical innovation on the axe, Holdsworth uses the Yamaha
UD Stomp Box. The Patches were programmed by prominent producers
and guitarists, such as Holdsworth, who calls the UD Stomp his
'dream box.' "The Yamaha UD Stomp Box does it all, and then
some! It has allowed me to throw away my old refrigerator rack.
Yeah!"
The world's first stompbox to feature eight
individual modulation/delays in one, the Yamaha UD Stomp is the
latest in 21-century technology. Features of the UD Stomp include
8 Individual Delays, Up to 5.5 Seconds of Delay Time, Up to 8
Bands of Stereo Chorus/Flanger, Stereo Panning, 180 Patches (90
User/90 Preset), 44.1 Digital Output, and 4 Built-in Footswitches.
Along with Sixteen
Men of Tain, the latest album for Holdsworth, he also
has his most requested album ever being re-released, Road
Games. Holdsworth was also awarded Best Guitar Synthesist
from 1989 through 1994 in Guitar
Player Magazine's Readers' Poll.
