YAMAHA SLG100S PUTS SILENCE INTO STEEL

—Silent Guitar Available in Steel String Version—

BUENA PARK, CA (July 3, 2003)—The latest addition to the Yamaha “silent” family is the steel string SLG100S Silent Guitar. Like its nylon stringed counterpart, the SLG100S allows musicians to practice and perform in privacy using headphones, and is an ideal choice for students in dorms, apartment and condo dwellers, traveling musicians staying in hotel rooms, musicians in the market for a second instrument, or even casual hobbyists. Additionally, performing and recording guitar players will find the SLG100S to be a unique tool, due in part to its stunning appearance—and the self-contained design that completely eliminates onstage feedback.

Silence is Steel: SLG100S

“Yamaha received an enthusiastic reception to the nylon string version of the Silent Guitar (SLG100N), launched in early 2002,” states Joseph Brasler, marketing manager, Yamaha Guitars. “We expect the steel string version to do as well or better, and to appeal to a wider group of buyers.”

The SLG100S features a streamlined appearance, lightweight composite body, Mahogany neck and Rosewood fingerboard, plus a pickguard and an adjustable rod in the neck. Like its nylon string counterpart, the SLG100S breaks down quickly for ease of transportation.

Electronics include a combination of Piezo in-bridge and L.R. Baggs pickups. An internal DSP that reproduces the natural-sounding reverb of user-selected acoustic spaces. An auxiliary mini-stereo input on the body of the instrument can easily connect to an external CD player or tape machine for practicing or playing along with pre-recorded material. The SLG100S can be plugged into an amplifier or P.A. system for live performances.

Currently available, the SLG100S package includes a gig bag, AC adapter and headphones.
