Deep-cut Birch shells on the 8200 Series Field-Corps
Toms enable classic Yamaha articulation with enhanced midrange
tone. The new aluminum arch lug casing is 50 percent lighter and
12 percent stronger, making a set of toms as much as 1.5 times
lighter than current models, and the lightest set of competitive-grade
toms on the market. A high-strength aluminum reinforcement ring
maintains shell integrity, while a 5.4 mm steel tension rod with
fine threads provides easy, consistent tuning without adding unnecessary
weight. The drums are tone-balanced to ensure consistent quality
throughout the set.
The 8200 Series Field-Corps Bass Drums feature
an aluminum arch lug casing 20 percent lighter and 40 percent
stronger that uses straight-line technology. The drums are one
to two pounds lighter than current models. New 10-ply Birch hoops
with a round edge allow pinpoint tension on the hoop, and a new
steel wide body caw is designed for today's corps-style tuning,
dispersing tension over a larger surface area for more stability.
The bass drums also feature a 5.4 mm steel tension rod to provide
easy, consistent tuning without unnecessary weight. Finally, a
14-inch bass drum enables drum lines to add a bass drum for indoor
use.
The toms and bass drums are both equipped with the
first lug casing in Yamaha history developed strictly for marching
drums, making Yamaha drums lighter than any competition-level
drums on the market and ideal for high school, college and drum
corps use.
"We have made our drums stronger and lighter
at the same time," says Troy Wollwage, Manager, Percussion.
"This takes Yamaha marching percussion to the next level,
truly offering musicians the best of both worlds."
The 8200 series is currently available.
