The BOA Grand National Championships are among the
largest high school marching band competitions in the United States,
with up to 90 bands from across the country competing over three
days. Founded in 1975, Bands of America is the nation's leading
presenter of music events for high school band students.
"We view Grand Nationals as one of the most
important educational events of the year. It provides a challenging
and inspirational high point bringing the marching season to a
close for many students, directors and parents. Grand Nationals
give us the opportunity to enjoy the bands' fine musical performances
as well as meet with many band directors and parents in what we
call 'Yamaha Listens' meetings," states John Wittmann, Manager,
Education, Yamaha Band & Orchestral Division. "These
meetings not only address the concerns and challenges facing band
directors, but assist us to better improve the quality of music
education programs in the U.S."
"One of Yamaha's main focuses is to support
music education, and we are constantly striving to achieve that
objective," says Rick Young, Vice President/General Manager,
Yamaha Band & Orchestral Division. "Celebrating the efforts
and musicianship of the dedicated students and directors at Grand
Nationals, coupled with 'Yamaha Listens', is a solid way for Yamaha
to reinforce our commitment."
