YAMAHA RELEASES V2 SOFTWARE

—Upgrade to Studio Manager Software, Six Add-On Effects Packages
Available for 02R96, DM2000—

BUENA PARK, CA (October 17, 2003)—Yamaha announces the introduction of Version II (V2) software along with five available add-on effects packages for the 02R96 and DM2000 digital mixing consoles. Available in January 2004 and compatible for both Macintosh OS X and Windows 2000/XP platforms, V2 represents a significant upgrade for each product's preconfigured internal software and Studio Manager Software with the addition of almost 50 new features, the capability to run the new add-on effects, expanded DAW control, and features designed specifically for the broadcast and sound reinforcement markets.

"Since their introductions, the Yamaha 02R96 and DM2000 have been used in almost every type of recording, live, broadcast, mixing and post situation," states Wayne Hrabak, marketing manager, Yamaha Professional Audio. "The addition of V2 software will enhance the flexibility, performance and functionality of those products, regardless of the application."

Designed to provide editing, librarian and remote control functions for the consoles, Studio Manager V2 retains the user's ability to control and manage all console parameters from a computer via a graphic interface; functions are replicated on-screen in logical, easy-to-understand pages.

In addition, Studio Manager V2 provides a platform of total system recall for multiple, compatible-format consoles and effects products (for example, multiple 02R96 and SPX2000 units).

Five effects packages, designed to be used separately or in combination, will be available in the first and second quarters of 2004, and will bring an entirely new dimension to Yamaha's 24 bit/96kHz products, or to a specific task. Packages have been produced with Virtual Circuitry Modeling (VCM), which reproduces the physical modeling of analog circuitry from the component level, including capacitors and resistors. VCM technology does not stop at analyzing the electrical components of the analog circuit and merely emulating the sound of existing vintage equipment, but can actually create the best quality 'equipment' from those virtual components.

The Reverb package brings the advanced REV-X algorithm from the new SPX2000, with a new generation of Yamaha reverb programs that provide rich reverberant tone and extremely smooth, transparent decay. Programs include REV-X HALL, REV-X ROOM and REV-X PLATE.

Channel Strip includes two new mono/stereo compressors and a six-band parametric equalizer, each modeled after a combination of popular devices. Master Strip features OpenDeck, a tape deck emulator that allows the user to select the 'record' and 'reproduction' decks, plus tape speed and type, independently.

Ideal for audio post production and ADR applications, the Surround Post package includes Room ER, a surround room simulator for early reflections; Auto Doppler (Doppler effect); and Field Rotation, which will rotate the perspective of entire 5.1 fields.

For instrumental effects applications, the Vintage Stomp package features the sounds of phasing stomp boxes, including Max100, Vintage Phaser and Dual Phaser.
