YAMAHA DEBUTS 16-CHANNEL MY16 EXPANSION CARDS

—96kHz Mini-YGDAI Format Compatible With 02R96, 01V96,
DM2000 and DM1000 Digital Mixers—

DALLAS, TX (March 13, 2003)—Expanding on the line of Mini-YGDAI cards that includes the MY8 Series, the 96kHz Series and several third party models, Yamaha Commercial Audio will introduce the 16-channel MY16 Series Digital I/O cards at NSCA 2003.

Yamaha MY16AE

Each card is capable of supporting up to 16 channels of simultaneous ADAT, AES/EBU and TDIF formats via a single expansion slot located on the Yamaha DM2000, DM1000, 02R96 and 01V96 digital audio consoles. All 16 channels can be used independently at sample rates up to 48kHz. The MY16 Series can also be used for “double channel” connection (using two tracks to create one) to 96kHz recorders, providing eight channels of I/O at 88.2 or 96kHz. The 16-channel ADAT (MY16-AT), TASCAM (MY16-TD) and AES/EBU cards (MY16-AE) cards are currently available.

“With the shift in ‘standard’ to high sample-rate digital source material, it was necessary to offer appropriate expansion options,” states Marc Lopez, product manager, Yamaha Commercial Audio. “The addition of 16-channels and more available card slots provides these options.”

Seamlessly integrating with a Yamaha digital console’s normal operation, the MY16 Series cards are 24-bit/96kHz compatible and insert into any of the four mini-YGDAI slots on the rear panel of the 02R96; six on the DM2000; two on the DM1000; and a single slot on the 01V96. Audio processing is supported with 48-bit internal precision on a 24-bit I/O.

“Whether you own a large or small-format Yamaha digital console and need digital I/O in ADAT, AES/EBU or TASCAM formats, you can select an MY16 card to create the input/output configuration that suits your application,” states Larry Italia, general manager, Yamaha Commercial Audio.
