The bi-amped design MSP10 Studio offers internal
design innovations, improved materials and significant refinements
to the midrange performance and crossover parameters for uncolored,
more accurate sound. The MSP10 Studio recently garnered a favorable
review from acclaimed industry trade publication Recording
magazine, who praised the MSP10 Studio for its "accuracy

"From the professional recording facility to
the home studio, high sample rate digital source material has
become the norm," states Wayne Hrabak, marketing manager,
Yamaha Professional Audio. "Nearfield monitor technology
has, in turn, had to evolve in order to rise to that same quality.
With the MSP10 Studio, Yamaha offers the combination of history,
research and major improvements that will not only meet but also
exceed those standards. As a result, the MSP10 Studio is gaining
acceptance from within the professional recording community."
The internal components of the MSP10 Studio are
aligned within micron-tolerance, ideally matched and precisely
tuned for the best possible performance. The 4-ohm 8" cone
woofer is driven by a 120-watt power amplifier, and the 8-ohm
1" titanium dome tweeter has its own 60-watt power amplifier,
resulting in balance between low-mid and high frequency ranges,
a smooth high frequency response up to and beyond 40 kHz, and
an integrated waveguide that achieves uniform dispersion over
120 degreesideal for surround monitoring and mixing.
Line-level electronic crossovers feature steep 30
dB/octave roll-off curves in both low and high-pass filters. The
result is minimal inter-modulation at the crossover point, and
smoother performance in the critical midrange.
Improved materials and manufacturing techniques
include a mineral-impregnated polypropylene woofer cone with low-damping
rubber surround, and a magnetic shielding circuit that eliminates
virtually all electromagnetic fields, allowing the monitors to
be positioned near recording gear, computers and video displays.
Constructed of high-quality MDF (medium density fiber) material,
the MSP10 Studio enclosure features internal bracing, a precise
2-mm edge radius, and a multiple layer lacquer finish to ensure
resonance-free operation.
"Today's musicians are more critical listeners,"

sound delivered by most powered speakers is sufficient, but not
accurate enough for modern 24-bit/96K gear or for critical monitoring
situations. The MSP10 Studio has been designed to be more than
compatible with that new standard and provide clean, uncolored
sound for today's music production needs."
The rear panel features balanced XLR inputs, an
input sensitivity control, response trim switches for both the
woofer and tweeter, and an 80Hz low cut switch that is useful
when using the MSP10 Studio with the SW10
Subwoofer.
The MSP10 Studio is currently available, with an
optional bracket (Model BWS251-300) available for wall mounting
applications.
