YAMAHA BRASS, PERCUSSION SUCCESS AT BANDS OF AMERICA
GRAND NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
GRAND RAPIDS, MI (November 25, 2002)Yamaha
Corporation of America, Band & Orchestral Division, played
a major role in the 27th Annual Grand National Championships,
which took place in November, at the RCA Dome and Indiana Convention
Center in Indianapolis, IN. Yamaha was the national presenting
sponsor and Yamaha instruments helped defending champions Lawrence
Central of Indianapolis place second and Carmel High School of
Carmel, IN place fourth in the competition. Lawrence Central marched
to a nearly entire Yamaha ensemble, while Carmel High School used
solely Yamaha percussion and marching brass. Carmel High School
director Richard Sauccedo is also the musical arranger for the
Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps, another Yamaha ensemble. Yamaha
marching brass and drums were represented by most of the 12 finalists.

The Bands of America Grand National Championship
is one of the largest high school marching band competitions in
the United States, with more than 80 bands competing over three
days. Founded in 1975, Bands of America is the nation's leading
presenter of music events for high school band students.
