In every Yamaha, youll find the ingredients for a fine piano:
- Solid Spruce Soundboard
Solid spruce has proven to provide the finest tone quality.
- Full Length Ribs Into a Notched Liner
The soundboards delicate, curved crown is held in place by wooden ribs. These ribs are notched into the frame of the piano to ensure beautiful tone for years to come.
- Hard Maple Bridges
Sound waves are transferred from the strings to the soundboard via the treble and bass bridges. Maple is the finest material available to pass these waves with no loss of momentum.
- Grand Piano Key Travel
Regardless of the design, size or model, all Yamaha pianos meet the specific requirements for key travel. This provides the player with an excellent touch.
- Yamaha Balanced Action
Only solid spruce keys with hardwood buttons can withstand the punishment that keys endure during heavy institutional use. Keys are individually balanced for quick repetition and optimum control.
- Yamaha Reinforced T-Clamped Hammers
Yamaha uses the best hammer felt and glues it to the corewood. For added strength, durability and stability of voicing, T-Clamped fasteners are added to each of the 88 hammers.
- Cut thread Tuning Pins
Due to the tremendous tension on each string, tuning pins can turn backward, causing the strings to go out of tune. Yamahas special design lets the tuning pin bite into the wood fiber and hold its position. This is one of the keys to Yamahas well-known tuning stability.
- Vacuum Shield Mold Process (V-Pro) Plate
The cast iron plate withstands the 20-ton force from the piano strings.
Any fluctuation or imperfection can literally destroy the piano foundation. Yamaha uses a special vacuum process system in manufacturing to create
a virtually flawless plate. The precise dimensions provided by this procedure form a solid foundation for the piano and an accurate surface for the strings, soundboard and bridges.
- Computer Assisted Manufacturing Process
In key processes where accuracy is crucial, Yamaha has created computer driven machinery to ensure that all cuts, drilling and alignments are precise.
