Yamaha is dedicated to innovative product solutions for todays school orchestra programs. Yamaha acoustic strings combine handcrafted quality and tonal characteristics normally found only on far more expensive instruments, yet are easily affordable. Yamaha Silent Electric string instruments combine the feel and sound of their acoustic counterparts with the plug and play ease of solid-body electrics.
Acoustic Strings
The legendary 18th century designs of Guarneri del Gesu have been masterfully recreated with the aid of 21st century computer imaging. Focused on both excellence and affordability, the result is a line of stringed instruments that honors both the Guraneri and Yamaha names. It is a match for the ages, combining Old-World design brilliance with modern-day commitment to excellence. Violins are available in standard, intermediate and professional models. All models are handcrafted from aged spruce, maple and ebony woods. Rigorous quality controls ensure a great tone and consistent playability. Oil varnish finish enhances tonal characteristics and makes repairs easier. Expert setups are completed by the nationally recognized Guarneri House in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Silent Electric Strings
Yamahas Silent String instruments feel, play and sound just like acoustics, with exceptional response and vibrato. Amplification is a snap
just plug and play. A complete Silent Electric string ensemble is now possible with the addition of a new Silent Viola to the highly regarded Silent Violins and Silent Cellos.
Electric Violins
The new EV series of violins feature an innovative and powerful pickup system. The tone is clear, edgy and most appropriate for progressive arrangements. Each string is picked-up separately, making it easier to balance the output and to communicate with MIDI equipment.
Silent Bass
The Yamaha Silent Bass feels and performs like an acoustic upright, but its more compact and easier to transport. It sounds great bowed or played pizzicato. Yamahas Silent Bass has a warm, full-bodied tone that makes it an excellent choice for a concert band, jazz band or alternative string ensemble.
Making A Difference
Schools across the country are realizing the benefits of using Yamaha stringed instruments. Whether its improving the tone quality and projection of a school orchestra with our new acoustic instruments, or using Silent Electric instruments to increase player recruitment and retention, provide motivation or draw additional exposure to the entire music department, Yamaha stringed instruments can make significant contributions to the continued success of any program.
Carbon Fiber Bows
As shrinking resources make finding a quality wood bow increasingly difficult, more and more string instrumentalists, from amateur to professional, are turning to carbon fiber bows as a viable substitute for wood. Light in weight and possessing an optimum combination of strength and flexibility, carbon bows come close to matching the characteristics of wood. But unlike wood, changes in weather, temperature, or humidity have little effect on a carbon bow, making it highly stable and perfect for use in any situation. It is at home playing outdoors or on tour or at times when you would rather not risk using your primary bow.
Silent String Amp
Designed for use with the Yamaha Silent Violin, Silent Viola and Silent Cello, the AS60-112T is equipped with a built-in 60-watt amplifier that powers a 12-inch speaker and dome tweeter. The speaker was engineered for the specific tonal characteristics of violins, violas, and cellos with special consideration given to frequency range and resonance. Like the Silent String Series, the amplifier is easy to use and ideal for amplified rehearsals or performances.
