Sound is the first priority in creating quality musical instruments. Yamaha respects tradition, yet is always breaking new ground in sound creation. Continually listening to customers, ongoing research and development, real life evaluation by players and the unsurpassed dedication of Yamaha designers, all result in a dynamic musical contribution to the future sounds of percussion.

Concert Percussion

Blending Tradition with Technology

Whether it’s a percussion instrument for the concert hall, an outdoor front ensemble or the band room, Yamaha instruments feature the superior Yamaha sound as well as practical features. It’s a perfect blend of tradition and technology. Manufactured using the latest techniques, many exclusive to Yamaha, our concert percussion is unrivaled in beauty, both aurally and visually.

For more than three decades Yamaha has been working with some of the world’s finest players designing and crafting the instruments of their dreams. Yamaha has also developed instruments and frames specifically designed for the rigors of educational use. While the sound, above all, is the priority for any musician, the practical design and affordability of our concert percussion instruments is also very important.

Marching Percussion

Feel the Force

Made of the finest woods and precision-tooled hardware, Yamaha marching percussion instruments have been designed in partnership with the world’s foremost drum corps, marching bands and music educators. Since Yamaha regards marching drums as true musical instruments, they are crafted with ultimate precision and attention to detail by the skilled hands of a team of experienced craftsmen. Exclusive Yamaha specifications, durable components and time-tested carriers and stand designs ensure years of trouble-free use. And since marching percussion has to be carried, unique designs and high-tech materials are incorporated to ensure lightweight, yet durable instruments. Marching percussion needs to withstand the intensity of practice after practice and performance after performance – that is why Yamaha marching percussion is the driving force behind the world’s most celebrated marching organizations.

Student Percussion

Back to Basics: Education

With a focus on music education, Yamaha strives to provide beginning percussionists with instruments that will inspire creative music making. That is why instruments with a quality sound and practical features, at an affordable price, are key elements of the Yamaha student percussion series. To ensure that our instruments reflect these key elements, ideas from teachers, parents, and students play an important role in the development process of Yamaha student percussion.

Percussion Accessories

Yamaha percussion accessories represent the same set of standards of quality and consistency found in all Yamaha instruments. The accessories and parts available are made to enhance the performance of a Yamaha instrument to its full potential. Educational products assist beginning students and instructors in their pursuit of percussion education. These products are made specifically with Yamaha instruments in mind. From the Rim Saver™ to the Professional series mallets, Yamaha has the products designed to work the best with Yamaha instruments. Yamaha also offers more options than any niche or specialty manufacturer in the market today.

Yamaha Percussion

Instruments for the Real World

Given the physical nature of percussion instruments, we have developed a “one-size-and-sound-does-not-fit-all” philosophy. This is exemplified by the wide variety of models we offer, whether it’s instruments designed for students, schools, indoor/outdoor use, professionals or anyone in between.

For instance, in concert percussion we offer: over thirty models of vibraphones, xylophones, marimbas and bells; four models of chimes; five series of timpani; five snare drum models; five bass drums sizes; and eight tom sizes. A full array of accessories includes bell stands, snare drum stands, bass drum stands, mallets, sticks, bags, covers, cases and hand-held percussion.

In student percussion, we offer two different snare drum kit configurations, as well as a bell kit and combination kit configuration. Accessories include practice pads, stands, mallets, sticks and bags.

In marching percussion, we offer four marching snare drums designed for high tension Kevlar® drumheads in the MTS™ series and SFZ™ series, and one Field-Corps™ series model designed for a plastic drumhead. The Field-Corps series marching toms are available in five individual diameters and eight basic configurations (including variations of trios, quads, quints and sextets), while the Field-Corps series marching bass drums are available in ten different diameters. For non-competitive marching and for younger players, the Power-Lite™ series offers one snare drum, four individual marching tom diameters in three basic configurations (various trios and quads), and seven bass drum diameters. A complete line of accessories includes four series of carriers as well as mallets, sticks, bags, covers and cases.

So why not make some music today? Yamaha percussion has everything you need.
